How does this course work?

Please read ALL this document before you commence your course. If you email us with questions that are covered in this section you will not receive an individual response but will be referred to this page.

Courses are run by The Online Learning Group, a small private company which is a joint venture between S-net.co.uk ltd and Connect Soft ltd, two British companies who are interested in helping spread useful information, advice and guidance on life and management skills.

Basically, the way this free online course works is that when you enroll, your name is added to our database. You will be sent an email asking you to select the first module you wish to study.

Just before you complete the module you have selected, you will be sent an email asking you to select the next module you wish to study, unless you have reached the end of the course or there is no new material available to send at the current time.

You just need to click on the links to access each lesson. They are not time sensitive, and you can study them at a time of your choosing. New lesson links are usually sent every few days, unless you have reached the end of the course or there is no new material available to send at the current time.

The costs associated with the delivery of this training site are met only by on page advertising. Although a small amount of income is generated, there is not sufficient to maintain a support team, so all emails are handled personally by me, Pauline.

This means that every email I must deal with reduces the amount of time I can devote to writing new course material, which I do for several courses and sites. We have literally millions of readers now, so just a tiny percentage of you writing to me means I can’t develop new material.
So here are some general guidelines, followed by some specific FAQs that do reflect our postbag. Please read them, then you will understand how it all works.

General guidelines

After you enroll you will be asked to confirm your registration by clicking on a link. This is to ensure no-one receives our emails without a “Double-opt in “agreement, and so protects you from spam.

As soon as you register, we will send you the first link to the course. We will then begin to send regular e-mails with the next lesson you have selected You just need to click on the links to access each lesson at a time convenient to you. After you have confirmed that you wish to register we will send you the link to your first segment. The course is split into segments, such as starting a business, managing sales staff marketing. You will be offered the course that relates to the advertisement that you clicked on to enroll.

Once you have completed your first segment you will be invited to choose what you wish to study next. Once you have completed a segment you can choose to repeat it or select another new one. You can take these lessons at your leisure by following the link we send you. It is not time sensitive.

The lesson emails are sent out by an automatic emailer, there is not a tutor here following your progress. So the course is completely flexible to suit your lifestyle, and we do not require you to acknowledge receipt, comment, submit work, or keep up with the schedule we send you.

Problem with links

Every day we have hundreds of people registering on our sites, so we know the process works.

However, if you are experiencing a problem with registration, this may be because you are using a configuration that is not compatible, so does not work, such as a make of mobile phone or version of browser. Please try again using another machine or browser.

If the links do not work, copy the URL’s and paste them into the address bar of your browser.
There are many reasons why the links may not work for you and we cannot diagnose individual problems. This will depend on how you are reading the email, in a program like Outlook or Thunderbird, or a browser. If you are using a mobile app, many old apps do not work properly.

The problem may be because the email has been seen as spam, if you have not added our email address to the white list. Again how you do this will vary with factors discussed above. Please use the internet to find out how to do it for your particular programme, browser or app, or for advice and information about the other factors mentioned.

Getting started

As soon as you register, and confirm, we will send you an email with links to the lessons that relate to the advertisement that you clicked on. You just need to click on the links to access each lesson at a time convenient to you. We will then begin to send regular e-mails with the next lesson in the course.

You can search for topics by opening any lesson, and a search bar will appear near the top, beneath the coloured navigation bar, at the right-hand side. Put your search term in the bar and click on the most appropriate result.

You can navigate to lessons for which you do not have the link, or if your link won’t open. Select the lessons tab on the navigation bar and choose the topic and lesson you want to study from the dropdown menu. If you have a lesson open, you can navigate to the previous, or next lesson, using the arrows in the white space just under the coloured navigation bar.

If you no longer want to receive our emails, you do not need to ask us to stop emails. Please just unsubscribe by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of the regular emails we send you.

The course is completely flexible to suit your lifestyle. We do not require you to submit work, nor to explain why you have not completed a module, or are behind our schedule with your studies, nor explain why you have performed poorly in a quiz. Where an assignment is suggested, or a question asked, this is to enable you to work through the material for your own benefit, we do not need to see your responses.

Because the mailings are automatic, requests to hold the course while you are busy, or to mail on specific days or intervals cannot be accommodated. But you can use the links we send you whenever you like, irrespective of when the system sends you mail.

If the timing of the emails does not suit you, you have the option to navigate to the lessons on the site using the lesson button, without a link from us. Follow this link and select “lessons ” from the navigation bar at the top of the page.

If you do not understand the lesson, lack of resources dictate that I cannot tutor you individually. Please remember that this is a FREE course and that the costs associated with the delivery of this training site are met only by on page advertising. Although a small amount of income is generated, there is not sufficient to maintain a support team. Ask a friend or colleague to explain or go through it with you., or just reread it.

For the same reason, please do not write to me asking what the next topic is, or to tell me you have decided to start the course. You can navigate to the lessons on the site using the lesson button, without a link from us. Follow this link and select “lessons ” from the navigation bar at the top of the page. Please learn to use the search facility.
